Is CBD Oil legal?
CBD oil and other hemp-extracted products are perfectly legal to be used and sold within the United States. The growing, processing, and selling of hemp extracts – including cannabinoids from industrial hemp – is possible through federal regulation within Section 7606 of the Agricultural Act of 2014 and the 2018 Farm Bill Act which the U.S. Congress passed and signed into law.
Will using CBD get me high?
Because CBD is non-psychoactive there’s no “high” effect as a result of using CBD.
How will CBD effect my body?
CBD affects the body by triggering the receptors of the endocannabinoid system within your brain and nervous system. These receptors regulate various body parts and systems – results may vary based on your purpose and schedule for using CBD. Typically, there are short-term effects such as relaxation, pain relief, anxiousness relief, etc.. that will be felt within a few (.5-2) hours of oral consumption and last 4 -12 hours. Additionally, CBD provides a long-term effect, if taken regularly as a dietary supplement, of reducing overall inflammation and stiffness.
How long does it take to feel the effects of CBD?
CBD effect onset usually occurs between 30-120 minutes depending on the dosage and how it was taken. Because there are no psychoactive ingredients with CBD oil, there is no “high” effect; however, a significant decrease in symptoms – reduced pain, calming sense, etc. - should be noticeable. Results are dependent on your dosage and purpose for using CBD.
What's the best way to take CBD?
The most appropriate delivery system for CBD-rich hemp products is one that provides an optimal dose for a desired duration with few unwanted side effects. CBD-rich Hemp flower varietals for smoking or vaping are available in many retail markets, but most CBD patients prefer non-inhalable products made with cannabinoid concentrates. The time of onset and duration of effect vary depending on the method of administration. CBD-rich hemp oil products can be taken sublingually, orally (as edibles, lozenges, beverages, tinctures, and gel caps), or applied topically. Concentrated hemp extracts can also be heated and inhaled with a vape pen. The effects of orally administered CBD-rich hemp oil can last for 4-8 hours or more, but the onset of effects is 30-90 minutes.
What is the optimal dosage for CBD?
An effective dosage can range from as little as a few drops of CBD-enriched hemp oil to a milliliter or more. Begin with a small dose of CBD oil, especially if you have little or no experience with cannabinoids. Take a few small doses over the course of the day rather than one big dose. Use the same dose and ratio for several days. Observe the effects and if necessary adjust the timing or amount. Don’t overdo it. Cannabinoid compounds have bi-phasic properties, which means that low and high doses of the same substance can produce opposite effects. Small doses of cannabinoids tend to stimulate; large doses sedate. An excessive amount of CBD could be less effective therapeutically than a moderate dose. “Less is more” is often the case with respect to cannabinoid remedies.
Does CBD have any adverse side effects or drug interactions?
CBD is a very safe substance, but it can interact with some pharmaceuticals. At high dosages, CBD will deactivate cytochrome P450 enzymes, thereby altering how we metabolize painkillers, statins, blood thinners, insulin & more. Conversely, CBD can also help mitigate the side effects of some pharmaceuticals while synergistically improving a patient’s quality of life. Problematic interactions are more likely when consuming high doses of CBD isolate products.
